Creator Residency in the Philippines:
Collaborate with L’Astrolabe Ecolodge
Page updated on March 13, 2026.
Looking for a travel creator collaboration in the Philippines? L’Astrolabe invites YouTubers, Instagram creators, filmmakers and storytellers to discover Catanduanes, meet the local community, and document one of the country’s most untouched island destinations.
In one sentence: this is not just a free stay — it is an invitation to document a place, a community, and a story of resilience on one of the wildest islands in the Philippines.
Why this creator collaboration exists
L’Astrolabe is not a standard beachfront resort. It is a small ecolodge created with a simple mission: support local families from the village while protecting the surrounding environment and offering travelers a rare, authentic experience in Catanduanes.
Today, several local families already benefit directly from the project. Through tourism, construction, maintenance, hospitality, and daily operations, the ecolodge creates concrete opportunities in an area where sustainable economic activity matters deeply.
By working with travel creators, our goal is to make this story visible to a wider audience and inspire more travelers to choose meaningful destinations.
What makes this project different
- a small-scale ecolodge with a real human story,
- direct support for local village families,
- a destination still untouched by mass tourism,
- a meaningful alternative to generic luxury content,
- an authentic island experience that naturally creates strong stories.
An island shaped by nature
Catanduanes is a spectacular island facing the Pacific. Its landscapes, coastline and rural life give it a raw beauty that feels increasingly rare in the Philippines.
Like many islands in this part of the world, it is also shaped by powerful natural forces. In November 2025, Typhoon Uwan affected much of the local tourism infrastructure, including parts of L’Astrolabe.
Today, the island is once again welcoming travelers, and this collaboration is part of a simple idea: helping more people discover Catanduanes through meaningful and authentic travel content.
Developing L’Astrolabe also means supporting the local community
After Typhoon Rolly (aka Typhoon Goni) in 2020, the founders of L’Astrolabe organized a Bayanihan with local volunteers, as well as a fundraising campaign with YouTuber @BecomingFilipino, to support 100 households in the village of Puraran.
That experience confirmed something important to us: tourism can do more than bring visitors to a place. It can also create work, support local families, and help small communities move forward in a lasting way.
This collaboration with creators is part of that same vision: giving visibility to a place where travel, local life and meaningful stories naturally come together.
A project rooted in place
The ecolodge grows slowly, with care, and with the people around it. This is precisely why it offers creators something rare: not a staged destination, but a real one.
Today, L’Astrolabe provides full-time employment for four members of the local community. Depending on the needs of the ecolodge — construction, maintenance, gardening or other projects — we also regularly work with additional local workers on a temporary basis.
As the ecolodge continues to develop, our hope is simple: to be able to create more stable jobs for people from the village and contribute, in a modest but meaningful way, to the local economy of Catanduanes.
Why creators love filming here
The biggest challenge for travel creators today is not finding a pretty place. It is finding a destination that still feels original. Catanduanes answers that need with unusual visual diversity and a real sense of discovery.
What makes Catanduanes ideal for travel content
- untouched beaches and dramatic coastlines,
- surf culture and Pacific scenery,
- rice fields, rural roads and local village life,
- a calmer atmosphere than more saturated destinations,
- the feeling of discovering a place before the crowds do.
This is the kind of destination where creators can produce content that feels more personal, more cinematic, and less predictable than the usual tropical travel posts.
Besides, Catanduanes offers more than beautiful scenery. It offers a true narrative: rebuilding after a typhoon, discovering a little-known island, and showing how tourism can help local communities move forward.

What creators can visually capture here
- sunrise and sunset on quiet beaches,
- dramatic cliffs and Pacific viewpoints,
- surf sessions and coastal life,
- rice fields and rural island scenes,
- architecture, local heritage and everyday life.
This variety is one of Catanduanes’ biggest advantages: creators do not leave with just one visual atmosphere, but with an entire narrative palette.
Why L’Astrolabe is a great filming location
Beyond the diversity of landscapes across the island, L’Astrolabe itself offers a compact and visually rich environment that works extremely well for filming. Within a short distance, creators can capture coastal scenery, lush tropical nature, and authentic everyday life in the nearby village.
From drone shots revealing the dramatic coastline, to jungle paths and rice fields, to moments of local work and community life, the setting naturally creates a variety of visual moods. This diversity allows creators to build a narrative rather than simply collecting pretty shots.
For filmmakers and travel storytellers, this makes L’Astrolabe an ideal base: a peaceful place to stay, but also a location where meaningful and cinematic travel content can easily take shape.
How the collaboration works
What we offer selected creators
We invite selected creators to stay at L’Astrolabe for three nights, with meals included, so they can truly experience the island rather than rush through it.
This collaboration is designed for creators who want time to observe, film, connect with people, and tell a thoughtful story.
Your creator stay includes
- 3 nights at L’Astrolabe,
- meals included,
- access to our private beach,
- time with our team and the local environment,
- the possibility to discover hidden places in Catanduanes.
What we ask in return
We simply ask creators to share their experience authentically with their audience.
We are not looking for generic promotional content. What matters most to us is honest storytelling, strong visual work, and a genuine interest in our ecolodge L'Astrolabe, the island, its people and the spirit of the place.
Possible formats
- YouTube travel videos,
- Instagram reels and posts,
- photography and visual storytelling,
- short documentaries,
- content focused on nature, slow travel, community or surf culture.
How to apply via Messenger
If you would like to collaborate with L’Astrolabe, please contact us directly via Messenger.
In your message, simply include:
- your travel dates,
- links to your YouTube channel, Instagram account, or other platforms,
- a short presentation of your content style or project.
We will be happy to review your profile and see whether our vision is a good fit for a collaboration.
Some destinations are simply visited; others are meant to be told.
Catanduanes belongs to the second kind.
Creators who come to L’Astrolabe do not only document a place. They become part of a story that is still being written — through landscapes, local encounters, and a different way of experiencing the Philippines.
If this resonates with your work, we would love to hear from you.
